Governance Workshop #4:  Structure, Power-Sharing, & Roles/Responsibilities

When:  Mar 10, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (CT)
Associated with  Partner Plan Act

OVERVIEW AND WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

A widely-watched BUILD Institute video, which describes the promise of early childhood community systems building, asks the question:  “What would happen if we all worked together on behalf of kids? Everyone!”  But, as many collaborations know, working together as one and achieving results is easier said than done.  And, governance is often the missing ingredient.

Please join us for the fourth workshop in our CS3 Governance Workshop Series, Structure, Power-Sharing, & Roles/Responsibilities.

Collaborations utilize a variety of group structures to arrive at and act on decisions. While collaborations, by nature, are flat, nonhierarchical bodies, some degree of structure is necessary to facilitate group functioning and communication. A well-defined structure helps to ensure there is collective understanding of how the group will work together.

This workshop will explore a variety of ways collaborations organize themselves and the ways in which roles and responsibilities can be structured to promote shared power, equity, responsibility, and accountability.

This workshop will address:

  • The structures (e.g. Leadership Team, work groups) that collaborations use to arrive at and act on decisions.
  • How roles and responsibilities can be designed to promote shared power, equity, engagement, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Resources available through an on-line library, including samples of collaboration by-laws and charters.
