Community-to-Community (C2C) Mentorship Program

As part of the Community Systems Statewide Supports (CS3) project, Illinois Action for Children (IAFC), is designing and implementing a community-to-community (C2C) mentorship program. The purpose of the C2C Mentorship Program is to facilitate the building of knowledge and skills that are often unique to early childhood collaborations and community systems building.

The C2C Mentorship Program provides participants an opportunity to receive individualized support to build their capacity to lead, hone problem-solving skills, and increase their knowledge of strategies for effective collaboration using an early childhood systems development framework. Mentors have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, as well as make a significant contribution to community systems development in Illinois. IAFC will partner with the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development, Illinois State Board of Education, and the Community Systems Development Subcommittee of the Illinois Early Learning Council to refine and adapt this system of support.

The C2C Mentorship Program will:

  • Develop and test a model of relationship-based support for early childhood collaboration leaders
  • Deepen the capacity of collaboration leaders to lead at the local level
  • Build relationships among early childhood collaboration leaders
  • Contribute to the fund of knowledge on essential leadership and collaborative skills for effective community systems development
  • Develop an inventory of knowledge, skills, and experiences of early childhood collaboration leaders across the state (assets) and identify areas for professional development

Program Components:

  • 1 year program
  • Bimonthly Leadership Development Trainings
  • One-on-one mentoring
  • Bimonthly Community of Practice for mentors
  • Recognition at Partner Plan Act Conference
