“It is precisely the people who are considered the least ‘likely’ leaders who end up inspiring others the most. Everyday people and everyday acts of courage eventually change everything.” – Ai-jen Poo

Resources

This resource provides tips on creating an indigenous land acknowledgment statement. Key components include self-reflection, homework and research, using appropriate language, using all tenses of a verb, taking action beyond land acknowledgment, and more.

Native Land Digital is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that is Indigenous-led, with an Indigenous Executive Director, and majority Indigenous Board of Directors that oversees and directs the organization. They’ve created a Native Land digital map that allows people, including those in the U.S., to identify the territories, languages, and treaties in their geographic areas. The purpose is to change, challenge, and improve the way people see history and the present day. The hope is to strengthen the spiritual bonds that people have with the land, its people, and its meaning.
